    • Operating system: Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. The HP_USB_Disk_Storage_Format_Tool should not work on Windows 10!
    • The laptop / motherboard BIOS must support bootable USB sticks – and this should be the case for most models under 4-5 years old. If the USB drive is recognized during the boot process, my BIOS will integrate it as a removable drive or as a pending drive.
    • BIOS Ultimate Boot version:
      – usbdos (folder contains 3 hidden files! MS-DOS program command.com, io.sys and msdos.sys)
      – HP_USB_Disk_Storage_Format_Tool v2.2.3.exe (Hewlett-Packard Format Utility for USB Drives)
DOWNLOAD Maximum BIOS Boot Edition – 1.2 MB
    • Flashtool is BIOS programming software (.EXE as file extension) that programs BIOS data into a BIOS chip and a BIOS file. You must download both files:
      – Motherboard purchased in the region of origin: on the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard, laptop or
      – or branded PC: from most laptop / branded computer websites.
These two files must be specially designed for the DOS operating system! If the manufacturer provides Windows-only files, you run the risk of updating the BIOS either directly in Windows, or flashing the old BIOS chip, or choosing a new programmed BIOS chip.
    • Open Ultimate BIOS-Boot-Edition and boot_usb_stick folder.
    • copy the usbdos file to your hard drive.
    • Run the HP USB Hard Drive Formatting Workshop tool.
    • Select your USB storage device under Device.
    • Select FAT-32 under File System and check the appropriate box to check the box next to Create DOS Financial Services Disk.
    • Paste the path to the usbdos folder using the DOS personal data entries found under:.
    • Click the start button and wait for the tool to prepare the USB stick and copy the 3 system files.
    • Rename your flash tool filename often and you will see the BIOS file if it is longer than 8 characters (not the computer file extension!).
    • Copy Flashtool and BIOS files to USB stick.
    • First, do BIOS setup and change the boot sequence to USB stick / stick (look for a solution like boot sequence, first boot device, or something similar).

    • Insert a USB stick and continue with your PC. To be fair, MS-DOS starts up and you should see the famous DOS prompt (C: >).

    • Users can now initiate BIOS update. Keep in mind that it may be a good idea to back up your old BIOS.

, your folder attribute is hidden. If you want to show your hidden files, you must disable the option: “Windows Explorer / Advanced options for individual folder options / Show / Show hidden files and folders” and directly disable the option ” “Hide protected administrative system files”.

I have an Acer and an Aspire 4830TG. Where can I get a custom BIOS with UEFI and so on?

Does USB need to be bootable for BIOS update?

To update the BIOS via DOS, you will need a dedicated bootable USB stick. Grab the updated BIOS and BIOS update utility that most people downloaded from the manufacturer’s website and copy them over to the latest bootable USB drive. Leave the USB stick connected to your computer. Then restart the system.

Could you recommend me where I can find the link to the program in the BIOS to access the Samsung RF511 laptop model under Windows 10

Dear forum members, I have the part number PSLB9U-047011 Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1521, which is definitely glued to the Toshiba logo. I found the hard drive and plugged it in – another laptop [as an external drive] for testing. The hard drive looks great because my husband and I can edit, view, copy and save music files. I have tried all the key combinations F2, FN, f12, + F, C + Power, 1 + Power to no avail. The only keys that seem to work are CTRL ALT + DEL when restarting the laptop, then the CAPS LOCK, FN keys. Maybe the problem is in the BIOS? Can you fix this problem by updating / flashing / restoring the BIOS? Your help is greatly appreciated. Hi KileM

    bios bootable usb drive

Hello, in 2016 I just had unwanted software bugs all the time, pick whatever I need for software, mine creates USB but when I click “Format” I get the message “Failed to format these drives.”

Please read your 2016 instructions carefully. I got a laptop or PC built with MSI, H55M-P33 Mobo (AMI BIOS version 1.9) coupled with an update to version 1.10. which adds support for 2.2TB + HDD and other newbies. It worked for me. Everything is not expensive. 5 stars. Great guide.

Hello sir. They say to choose the device from which you want to boot. BUT what if I have neither video nor processing, and my PC often works?

    M. Collins Feb 16, 2016 03:35 AM

When I tried the Winphlash window, I got a variable checksum error (104). I tried bootable Rufus with Flashdrive Winphlash16 but the BIOS ROM file could not be opened.

    M.Collins 16.Feb.2016 00:27

So, very close … Direct instructions running under DOS, ‘PHLASH16 6912.ROM’ (insPhoenix DOS). … .. The utility worked fine, but the error “Unable to flash with loaded memory managers, HIMEM” remained. Not sure how to use HIMEM to remove sentences?

Because the motherboard manufacturer provides these files in the appropriate special version for your motherboard type, and I’m not a magician.

Can a USB drive be bootable?

Connect your USB device to your computer using most of the available USB ports. It is best to create a large bootable USB stick or configure a third-party hard drive as bootable. You may be presented with a message to help you press a key on some boot devices before the computer boots from a flash drive or other USB device.

Why is there only one pen in 2015?

    biosflash 20.Nov.2015 19:34

    @sslinux
Use a different USB port with PS / 2 keyboard or a different USB 2.0 connection (not 3.0!).
